More than 700,000 people in West Michigan were gainfully employed last month, a boost of 16,600 over the same time last year.
The bulk of those job gains came in the Grand Rapids-Wyoming area, where the number of employed people jumped by 9,000 compared to a year ago, according to the state Department of Technology,
Management & Budget.
The bump in employment was coupled with a significant drop in the number of unemployed in West Michigan - down more than 20 percent year over year in the four statistical areas.
