Westside Connection was annexed to Grand Rapids from the city of Walker in the early 1960s. It is now one of Grand Rapids’ largest neighborhoods and it encompasses an array of housing, backgrounds and opportunities.  The residents of Westside Connection and its neighboring community, West Grand, love their community and it shows!  They proudly proclaim that “the West Side is the Best Side!”  This community has maintained its historic charm while experiencing a revitalization with new buildings and businesses that have popped up on its tree-lined streets. Westside Connection’s residential neighborhood offers a block captain on every street, and residents know each other by name.  In fact, they enjoy gathering at summer and fall festivals offered by St. Anthony’s and the sound of polka music can often be heard on clear night.  The beautiful Blandford Nature Center, located at the NW corner of the neighborhood, is also a popular destination for residents who enjoy wildlife, farming, and seasonal camps.
