As we know, Michigan has a lot of water. While all homes are at risk of catastrophic flooding, many of these properties do not warrant flood insurance. Most often the flood insurance requirement is brought up within 48 hours of closing. Many agents are finding the burden of costly flood insurance to be a possible deal breaker.

This presentation will educate on the topic of flood insurance and the laws that are currently in place which govern the requirements. There are many options available to assist a homeowner in either removing the requirements or getting a considerable reduction in premium. Additionally, attendees will learn how to assist homeowners in processing a refund back on premiums, which may have already been paid.

In light of the fact that the Code of Ethics is a living document that is updated and enhanced regularly to keep current with an ever changing industry, the National Association of REALTORS requires that all REALTORS complete a refresher Code of Ethics training course of not less than 2 hours and 30 minutes of instructional time. NAR previously required this training once every 4 years, however, that cycle was recently reduced to once every 2 years. Collectively, all GRAR members last completed the training in 2014. That means that we must now all complete the training in 2017 in order to satisfy NAR’s new requirement.

The course is available online at the NAR website or in person on the dates referenced above.  Please click here to learn more and/or register.   Questions?  Please contact Brittany Sheets or Cheryl Krause.

Sponsored by:  GRAR’s Community Involvement Task Force

As you may have heard, Burton Elementary School lost the sponsor of its Secret Santa Workshop and was concerned that this special holiday tradition may not happen in 2017.  GRAR’s Community Involvement Task Force heard this news, stepped in and up, and raised $3,500 so that the Workshop could go on!  Thanks to all who supported the Task Force’s fundraising efforts!  However, the financial side was just one hurdle.  We now need volunteers to help at the event.

Think back to when your children or grandchildren were little and would come home from their own Secret Santa Workshops at school with the treasures that they picked out for family members and the delight on their faces as they presented these gifts.  Such great memories!  This is your opportunity to help a young person at Burton Elementary shop for the perfect gift, wrap it, and look forward to the holiday with anticipation!  Won’t you help?  The shifts are 2 1/2 hours each and you may register for one or more, whatever your schedule permits!  This is a great event for offices, friends, or family members to do together!

Please click here to register.  Enter your MLS User ID – without the ric.g in front – and Password when prompted.  If you are bringing along a non-member guest, please email the person’s name and the preferred date and time to Brittany.
