The NAR CIPS course curriculum offers hands-on experience with international real estate transactions, as well as a focus on the critical aspects of these transactions, including:

  • Regional market conditions
  • Investment performance
  • Tax issues
  • And more!

Cost:  $10.00 per person – As part of GRAR’s 2016 Volunteerism/Community Involvement Plan, 100% of proceeds from these tours will be donated to the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.

Initially designed for a prominent Grand Rapids clothier, the Meyer May House was purchased and meticulously restored by Steelcase and opened to the public in 1987.  Today, complete with original furnishings and faithfully executed reproductions, the Meyer May house provides a rare opportunity to experience a prairie house exactly as Frank Lloyd Wright intended.  What a treasure to have right here in our community!

HONORING OUR NATION’S HEROES: TOURS & VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

We are pleased to partner in 2016 with the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans to offer opportunities for REALTOR and Affiliate Members and their families to interact and bond with the residents of the Home.  Many of the Veterans who reside in the home do not have family in the area and they long for social interaction and the sense of community that comes from having guests visit them.  This is such a great opportunity to show that our real estate community cares for those who have given so much to our great country!

REGIONAL OPEN HOUSE WEEKEND – JUNE 11-12, 2016

You’re invited to join other REALTOR Members of the Grand Rapids Association of REALTORS in hosting open houses throughout West Michigan on the weekend of June 11 and 12.  This annual event brings value to both buyers and sellers and is a great opportunity to promote the benefits of home ownership and continue a dialogue with consumers about the housing issues that matter most to them.

Northern Mortgage Services was kind enough to provide balloons that are available in the GRAR REALTOR Store at no cost to you to help promote your open houses.  Beginning May 27, you may stop in the Store during normal business hours (8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday) to pick up your balloons and shop for other open house products as well (guest registers, shoe covers, sign riders, open house flags, and more).   Please also be sure to schedule your open houses through the MLS so that they may be promoted to consumers visiting grar.com.

MID-CENTURY & HISTORIC HOMES: GRAR is pleased to welcome Aletha VanderMaas of True Home Restorations and Rhonda Baker of the Grand Rapids Historic Preservation Commission. Aletha is the owner of True Home Restorations, a design business focusing on interiors & exteriors of homes built between 1950 and 1975. She will be discussing the inventory in MI for Mid-Century homes, who wants them, and details of these types of homes. Rhonda is a graduate of  Western Michigan University’s Public History program and has worked in the field of preservation for over seventeen years. She was employed as Director for the Historic Preservation Department of South Bend and St. Joseph County Indiana and for the last twelve years has served as the Historic Preservation Specialist for the City of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Rhonda will be discussing historic preservation, the importance of preserving historic homes, and what it means to preserve historic property.
